Argentina Junior & Cadet Open: Europeans marked closing stages

At the Singles Event at the 2011 Argentina Junior & Cadet Open – ITTF Junior Circuit Alejandro CALVO of Spain and CHEN Diogo of Portugal will play against each other for the place in the semi final of the Junior Boys Singles Event.

In Round of 16 CALVO overcame Nicolas GALVANO of Argentina 4:0 (12:10, 11:6, 11:6, 11:5). Carlos FRANCO of Spain beat Diego TEPLITZKY of Argentina 4:0 (11:5, 11:5, 12:10, 12:10). FRANCO will play against Adriel DI SALVO of Argentina in the quarterfinal. Another Spain’s representative Miguel VILCHEZ accounted at Luan OLIVEIRA of Brazil 4:1 (11:6, 11:4, 8:11, 11:4, 11:5). Joao GERALDO of Portugal succeeded against Juan LAMADRID of Chile 4:0 (11:9, 11:9, 11:3, 11:7).

In the quarterfinal of the Junior Girls Singles Event Bernadette SZOCS of Romania showed no mercy against Laura RAMIREZ of Spain 4:0 (11:9, 11:9, 11:8, 11:9). In the semi final she will play against Agustina IWASA of Argentina. At the lower half of the draw Patricia FERNANDEZ of Spain succeeded against Cristal MENESES of Chile 4:2 (11:2, 10:12, 11:5, 11:8, 8:11, 11:2).

CHEN Diogo of Portugal successfully emerged to the semi final of the Cadet Boys Singles Event. He overcame Ivan CUEVAS of Spain in the quarters 3:0 (11:5,11:8,11:6). Miguel VILCHEZ of Spain beat Sergio YANEZ of Chile 3:0 (11:7, 11:3, 11:6).

In Junior Boys Doubles Event Alejandro CALVO and Carlos FRANCO of Spain reached final. In the penultimate stage they overcame Adriel DI SALVO and Nicolas GALVANO 3:0 (11:3,11:6,12:10). For the top place at the medal rostrum they will meet Joao GERALDO and CHEN Diogo of Portugal. Portugal’s pairings beat Argentina’s Pablo SARAGOVI and Juan DAHER 3:1 (5:11, 11:5, 11:9, 14:12).

Patricia FERNANDEZ and Laura RAMIREZ of Spain also reached final in Junior Girls Doubles Event after they overcame Argentina’s Agustina IWASA and Maia HARIMA in full distance match 3:2 (11:6, 7:11, 11:2, 6:11, 11:4).
Cadets Miguel VILCHEZ and Ivan CUEVAS overcame Lucas PRANDI and Massao KOHATSU of Brazil to reach ultimate stage 3:2 (10:12, 11:4, 7:11, 11:9, 11:7).

Another title for European youth champion Bernadette SZOCS

Romania’s 16-year-old Bernadette SZOCS won the Junior Girls’ Singles title at the Argentina Junior and Cadet Open in Buenos Aires. That is the second ITTF Junior Circuit crown for the Youth European Champion.. In February, she emerged successful at the Czech Junior and Cadet Open beating Portugal’s Maria XIAO in the final SZOCS overcame Patricia FERNANDEZ of Spain in the final of the Event 4:0 (11:6, 11:9, 11:7, 11:6).

Previously Romania’s champion succeeded against Agustina IWASA of Argentina in another straight games match 4:0 (11:5, 11:8, 11:6, 11:6). Patricia FERNANDEZ beat Angela MORI of Peru 4:2 (11:2, 11:1, 4:11, 14:12, 4:11, 11:8).

Pablo SARAGOVI of Argentina clinched the title in the Junior Boys Singles Event. In the ultimate stage home crowd favorite beat Carlos FRANCO of Spain in full distance thriller 4:3 (11:5,8:11,8:11,11:4,12:10,9:11,11:5). In semi final CHEN Diogo of Portugal suffered by the hands of SARAGOVI 3:4 (12:10,2:11,11:9,2:11,7:11,11:8,4:11), whilst FRANCO beat Miguel VILCHEZ 4:1 (10:12,11:4,11:4,11:4,11:6).

CHEN Diogo won the title in Cadet Boys Singles Event. He accounted at Fermin TENTI of Argentina in the final 3:0 (12:10,11:9,11:7). In previous round CHEN overcame Ignacio RIBACK of Argentina 3:0 (11:8,11:4,11:5). In other semi final duel TENTI beat Miguel VILCHEZ of Spain 3:1 (9:11, 11:3, 14:12, 11:6).

In the final of the Junior Boys Doubles Event Joao GERALDO and CHEN Diogo of Portugal succeeded against Alejandro CALVO and Carlos FRANCO of Spain 3:1 (8:11, 11:7, 12:10, 11:8).

Patricia FERNANDEZ and Laura RAMIREZ of Spain reached the top position at the medal rostrum. Peru’s Angela MORI and Maria SOTO failed to stop them in the final 2:3 (8:11, 6:11, 11:9, 11:4, 9:11).

Cadets Miguel VILCHEZ and Ivan CUEVAS overcame Argentina’s Fermin TENTI and Diego TEPLITZKY 2:3 (11:8, 11:8, 9:11, 5:11, 6:11)in the final of the Doubles Event.
