Grenzau through decades belongs to the best competition of European clubs and its come back to ECL is natural thing. This club, synonymous for table tennis, founded eight years prior to establishment of European Cup of Champions, 1952. This first, historical step for the club was created by Manfred GSTETTNER who started to fulfill his dream in his cellar. Than he was 16 year old, but enough to start special table tennis machine.

Thirty years later, club was ready for first big success. They started to play in new hall, with 1.000 places, and people enjoy supporting their team to its promotion in Bundesliga, in season 1981/82. Hero was South Korean player PARK Lee Hee. Just two years later, they reached third place in battle with top German clubs, behind first Saarbrucken and second Borussia.

For seasons after that (1986/87) came first title of Bundesliga, leading by famous player and later coach, Andrzej GRUBBA who participated in all Grenzau`s six titles (1987, 1991, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2002), last two as a coach.

Grenzau till now days reached 14 trophies - 6 German league, 4 German Cup (1987, 1992, 2001, 2006). The best year in all club’s history is 1987, finished with three trophies - German League and Cup and Cup of Champions. Biggest success is three ECL (Cup of Champions) crowns, 1987, 1988 and 2000. Above that Grenzau has one ETTU-Cup (1998). Last season club lost from Borussia in semis of German League.

Three leading players in new season will be Lucjan BLASCZYK who reached seven from 14 Grenzau`s trophies, then newcomer from Russian UMMC, Robert GARDOS and promising Japanese Kenji MATSUDAIRA. They, of course, will try to be among the best German and European clubs.
